On May 1st the wPA chapter met at the Amerinet offices in Warrendale, PA. Fredrick Peterson Jr., Regional Manager- Southwest Emergency Preparedness, Hospital & Health System Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) reviewed the emergency planning and preparedness needs of our members. If you feel that your ability to get resources will be limited in an event please contact Fred at FPeterson@haponline.org to help you and your organization’s incident commander develop a plan. Charles Dominick, SPSM, SPSM2, President & Chief Procurement Officer – Next Level Purchasing Association gave an insightful presentation on Procurement KPIs for Maximizing Cost Savings.  His ability to tie the thought process of a traditional sales funnel that maximizes revenue, to a procurement funnel that maximizes savings, gives supply chain a model to show their organizations that a higher level of realized savings can be obtained by compounding small changes in their spend under management, addressed spend, percent savings and compliance. Completing the presentations, Matthew T Benton, MBA, Commodity Manager, UPMC Supply Chain Management used his firsthand knowledge to help understand some pitfalls from various types of supplier models and what a counter proposal may look like in his thought provoking presentation, Don’t Just Eat What You’re Served; Understanding and Challenging Supplier Pricing Models.
